The Ogoni Solidarity Forum is the voice of the Ogoni ethnic minority of the Niger Delta in Nigeria. The Ogoni homeland is one of the richest oil producing areas in Nigeria. This is why they have suffered oppression and deprivations in the hands of successive governments of Nigeria. Ken Saro Wiwa, a leading literary figure (an Ogoni), founded the movements foe the survival of the Ogoni People (MOSOP) in 1990but was hunged with 10 others on 10.12, 1995 but government. To date the government of Nigeria continues to pursue a vigorous champaign of persecution against the followers of MOSOP. Thousands of Ogonis have fled their homeland to escape state inspired persecution and are now refugees in neighboring Benin and other countries.
