The Science and Democracy World Forum (SDWF) is an initiative launched in 2007 as an answer to the lack of political dialogue between scientific institutions and social actors on Science and Society issues at a global level.
In April 2008, the SDWF launched a [http://www.sdwf-fmsd.org/spip.php?article66&lang=en Call for a World Forum on Science & Democracy Towards a political dialogue between scientists and social movements across the planet].
A first Science and Democracy forum was held during the WSF in Belem 2009.
The next step of SDWF will be the 2nd Science and Democracy World Forum in Dakar, Senegal, on on February 4th & 5th, 2011, immediately before the WSF in Dakar which opens on the 6th February.
