'''SUMMARY'''

The fight against a repressive regime can result in the challenge of retaining the features of the repressive regime through the liberators who are well versed in what they ought to replace. Civil rights movements are supposed to articulate different postulates by bringing in a counter opinion. A counter opinion is built through education because education provides dignity, a means of articulation, self-respect and empowerment to speak out.

Education: Strengthens the capacity of civil society as it brings diversity. Thus, it is important to mainstream education for a long-term.

There are many challenges, however. Authoritarian regimes use education to continue to perpetuate the system. Thus, education ought to be liberalized to permit curiosity.

The other challenge is that at times participation in civil society, especially in Africa can only be achieved after achieving basic rights such as food, water, shelter, etc.

Some civil society organizations are not democratic themselves and political leaders in Africa, very rightly at times, ask whether civil societies are democratic. Many civil society organizations have been accused of corruption and lack of accountability.

'''REMARKS'''

A very lively discussion that needed more representatives from the civil society organizations from Kenya, but none apart from Dr. Mutunga were there.
'''Summary of Issues'''

Setting a good example and coping in successfully and with the rules and rights which govern the sexually associated issues

In this last meeting for women rights in Beijingi they didnt come up with the clean rules and policies governing the sexual and reproductive health issues on abortion.

'''How can women and young girls avoid rape'''
They can resist in the time of the act or if they already they suspect a rape approcah. Some of the resistance is to shout for help and keep on fighting until they can recieve help from somebody.

Girls and women need to have a right of choice. Those who need to go for abortion need to go for standardised abortion facilities.
Do not you think we only encourage the abortion if we introduce legal clinics on abortion?
Currently in Kenya its not yet citied whether its good or bad to go for abortion.

HIV/AIDS is also a big threat to the feminist family due to the act that most at times fall in traps that cause HIV7AIDS and utter negative related issues i.e they are raped forced to early marriages hence Early pregnancies
== Rape==
These are the consquences
It results into men trumut
It demages the reproductive organs of a girl
It leads to pyscologically trumor sometimes it leads to the victim losing for the sense of speech.

'''Recommendations'''
We all need to support the Amantire group so that they can achieve the best support to go on with their objectives
This can be done regards of gender by moral support by other support.
'''Summary of Key Issues''':

The flower industry is a key sector in the economy of Columbia employing over 90000 people mostly women, displaced by war and who live below the poverty line.

The workers are employed through sub-contactors . This arrangement favours employers at the expense of the workers. The workers work for long hours sometimes upto 18 hours a day. Miscarriages are common and the workers frequently suffer from work related illnesses as a result of repeated exposure to pesticides already banned in other countries.

There is a high level of discrimination against women. Sometimes they are asked to sterilise themselves before being given work.

Another casualty is the environment because flower production uses a great deal of water that is got from underground.

Although there are trade unions that are supposed to advocate for the rights of the workers, the government of Columbia and the companies continue to restrict and persecute leaders and members of the trade unions sometimes even sacking them.

'''Recommendations'''.

Trade unions need to provide education to workers not only to know and demand for their rights but also to know what is happening internationally.

Workers need to unite and fight for emacipation from exploitative employers.
More power within the structure of the trade unions should be given to the grass roots members.

-They are asking for financial support from the IMF and the World Bank. In this way they will be able to come up with objectives, rules and recommendations in order to enable them perform and for the implementation of the same.

-There should be the encouragement to the local producers from both the regions, that's Latin America, and Africa for the production of not only goods for their use locally but also for export which will be used as a tool for poverty eradication.

'''RECOMMENDATIONS FROM THE ACTIVITY:'''

The alternative information is currently working on a proposal that will be discussed in the next conference. This will ensure that there is one understanding between the trade unions from both regions.
